Dr. Maria Spinu received a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering and Ph.D. Degree in Polymer Science and Engineering from Virginia Tech. She joined Du Pont Central Research & Development in 1990 and currently leads Building Science and Sustainability initiatives in DuPont Building Innovations. Maria’s areas of expertise include: Building Physics, Building and Energy Codes, Moisture Analysis for Durable Building Enclosure Design, Sustainable Building Design, LEED and other green building rating systems. She is a member of the ASHRAE 90.1 Standard Committee and Envelope subcommittee, BEC (Building Envelope Council), AIA/BEC, CSI, ABAA, NIBS, and other professional and trade organizations. Dr. Maria has published many papers in technical journals and trade organizations and she is the author of 16 patents.
